If i do bad 1 year in highschool, can i still get into a university?

ok so my freshman year was pretty good, i was on the honor role for most of it then when i was a sophmore, everything went down hill, i barely passed and i had to take summer school for geometry. college wise i wanna go to the amercan university in cairo egypt but because of my sophmore year i feel as thou might have to start off at a community college which i real dont want to do,so any dvice?
