How does this part of my story sound?

Well I'm not going to beat around the bush, so I'll just tell you right away - having a character wake up from a nightmare has become one of the biggest cliches you could have. It's simply not an effective hook. Then I noticed the tense change as well. Definitely work on keeping it consistent. Good luck to you.
