Im 16. if i derestrict my moped am i likely to get caught by the police? is it worth it?

i have just bought a yamaha aerox 50 2008 moped (rossi) it is a 50cc and only goes 30mph (32mph at a push) i find it dangerouse and awqward to drive as i can tell all the other drivers on the road are getting irritated with my speed and overtaking me. and trying to go up a hill on it is embarrassing too. so therefore i would like to get it derestrict it so i can atleast travel at 35mph or 40mph like everyone else giving me the benefit of keeping up with traffic. the thing that is putting me off is that i know if i derestrict it and get caught by the police then it will get taken to impound and i would have to pay �150 to get it back. but then again pretty much everyone i know gets theres derestricted. so is it worth it? and how likely is it to get pulled over by the police? the law saying 16 year olds can only travel at 30mph is dumb.
